BLUEPRINT BASEBALL | EDUCATE. EXECUTE. EXCEL! Jon de Marte | BLUEPRINT BASEBALL

Jon de Marte

We are excited to announce a new addition to our group of Baseball Educators – a current member of the Chicago Cubs organization & closer for Team Israel (see next Olympics, Tokyo 2021) – Jon de Marte!  Even cooler, Jon is from the Westchester area!

As a junior competing at local Lakeland High School in 2010 – in addition to being named the prestigious NYS Louisville Slugger Player of the Year – de Marte was also named the NYS Gatorade Player of the Year, the award given to the top player in all of NYS. Amazingly, in 2011 de Marte’s elevation into elite company continued, as he not only repeated as Gatorade POY, but was also named a Lousiville Slugger All-American. Legendary!

Upon entering the University of Richmond (VA), de Marte was named the Atlantic 10 Conference’s Preseason Rookie of the Year.  In his final season, de Marte was named to the A-10’s All-Academic Team.  From there, he signed his 1st professional contract with the Normal Cornbelters, playing for fellow staffer & Pitching Coordinator Billy Horn.  De Marte continued competing in the independent professional baseball ranks through 2019.

However, recently, de Marte’s career has been taking off.  In 2019 he earned a spot on Team Israel, who was slated to play in this summer’s 2020 Olympics in Tokyo (since been rescheduled for summer ’21)!  And in February 2020, it all came together.  de Marte was signed as a pitcher by the Chicago Cubs organization.  Clearly, de Marte’s journey has been long and winding – yet far more importantly, one that highlights incredible persistence, determination and commitment to improving his game! #WhereToFromHere
