Consiglio has served at Varsity, NCAA Division I, Professional and even International levels, working with various baseball organizations around the globe to assist with the promotion and development of baseball in their countries, including the Brazilian Baseball & Softball Confederation. <\/span><\/strong>The Brazilian national baseball team, once managed by longtime Hall of Fame Cincinnati Reds shortstop Barry Larkin, qualified for their first World Baseball Classic event in 2013, nearly upsetting defending champion Japan (2006, 2009) in the opening round, losing 5-3. In September 2016, Brazil again competed valiantly, losing two 1-run games, including to eventual bracket winner and 2017 WBC “damage doer” Team Israel in the Brooklyn qualifier held at MCU Park, Single-A affiliate for the New York Mets.<\/span><\/p>\n

NCAA DIVISION I COACHING EXPERIENCE<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Prior to founding Blueprint Baseball (formerly known as 21st Century Sports) in 2006, Consiglio served as a Division I college baseball coach from 2000-06.<\/span><\/strong> In 2000-02, he served as a Graduate Assistant at Miami of Ohio University in Oxford, where he was fortunate to have coached 15 players who went on to play professional baseball, an astounding number after just two seasons. Perhaps most noticeably, he was fortunate to have served on a staff that included the 2013 NCAA National Division I Head Coach of the Year Tracy Smith (now the Head Coach at University of Michigan), who led the of the Indiana Hoosiers to Omaha and their first-ever NCAA College World Series appearance – and first appearance by a Big Ten team since 1984. The coaching staff included two other future Division I head coaches, including Dan Simonds at Miami of Ohio University (Simonds is now the Director of Baseball at the renowned IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.) and Scott Googins at University of Cincinnati. After obtaining his Master’s Degree in Sport Behavior and Performance from Miami of Ohio University, Consiglio moved on to Fairfield University (CT), where he served as the Assistant Head Coach for the 2003 and 2004 seasons. \u00a0In his 2nd season with the Stags, he helped lead them to a 14-game improvement, tripling their win total from the previous season.<\/span><\/p>\n

From there, Consiglio joined the St. John’s University coaching staff in Queens for the 2005 and 2006 seasons. During this time, he helped lead the Red Storm to their first Big East Conference regular season championship in more than a decade while continuing to assist with the development of MLB draft-level talent. Consiglio was again fortunate to coach alongside some of the best baseball coaches in all of America, serving under longtime Head Coach Ed Blankmeyer, who recently served as an Assistant Coach of the USA Baseball National Collegiate squad, Mike Hampton, ranked as the #3 Assistant Coach by Baseball America in 2013 (out of over 1,000 coaches) and Scott Brown, Vanderbilt’s pitching coach since the 2013 season.<\/span><\/p>\n

“When looking back, it’s pretty amazing”, said Consiglio. \u00a0“I don’t know that I could have been more fortunate to work alongside better baseball coaches – let alone better people – during the time I spent coaching in the NCAA. \u00a0Being able to see not only what true professional prospects and elite college athletes “look like” – but more importantly, how they develop their physical and mental talents on a daily basis – is something we seek to deliver to the amateur level, each and everyday.”<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Consiglio has also served as a coach in the prestigious New England Collegiate Baseball League<\/span> (www.necbl.com<\/a><\/span>) and New York Collegiate Baseball League<\/span> (www.nycbl.com<\/a><\/span>), both of which belong to the elite category of MLB-sanctioned college summer leagues. In 2003, Consiglio managed the Amsterdam Mohawks, leading the storied franchise to their first NYCBL championship since 1988. As of the 2016 MLB First-Year Player Draft, Consiglio has coached over 150 players who have gone on to sign professionally, an astounding number, particularly during such a short period of time.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

HIGH SCHOOL & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE<\/em><\/strong><\/span>
\nUpon leaving the college game during the summer of 2006, he continued his coaching career in the high school ranks. <\/span>During his first season as Assistant Coach at Keio Preparatory Academy (Purchase, N.Y.) in 2007, the Fighting Unicorns elevated their program from sectional champion to state finalist, coming within one out of winning the N.Y.S. Class C state championship. <\/span><\/strong>Along the way, the program set a host of school records, including total wins, batting average, E.R.A and number of players who won individual accolades, such as All-State and All-Section awards.<\/span> In 2008, Keio sealed the deal, winning the school’s first-ever baseball state championship. During the summer of ’08, Consiglio also assisted with the Hudson Valley’s baseball team in New York State’s Empire State Games. A collection of the area’s best baseball talent, the team went on to win their first gold medal in nearly 20 years.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I<\/span><\/strong>n 2009, Consiglio moved over to Saunders High School, helping lead the way there with eventual Section I Head Coach of the Year Award Winner Chuck Alben. In their first year together, the Blue Devils achieved a school-record 15 wins and their highest ever playoff seeding (#5). Unfortunately 2010 was a different story, where under Consiglio the Blue Devils lost 10 games by a combined total of 14 runs while competing against the 2nd toughest-ranked schedule in all of Section I (over 70 schools in Westchester, Putnam, Rockland and Dutchess counties).<\/span><\/p>\n

After the cancellation of the Empire State Games in 2009, he helped lead the team to a 4th place finish in 2010.\u00a0 Due to the event’s cancellation again in 2011, Consiglio became a Manager in the New York State Showcase League, which served as the official developmental league for the historic\u00a0Can-Am League<\/span> (http:\/\/www.canamleague.com<\/a><\/span>). The purpose of the league was to provide undrafted and unsigned players the opportunity to ink their first professional contract by competing in a daily showcase and game format, much like in every Major League Club’s Spring Training Camp. Following the conclusion of the NYS League season, Consiglio assisted the New York Federals in the Can-Am League for the remainder of their season.<\/span><\/p>\n

Under Consiglio’s oversight, Blueprint Baseball has expanded from a small operation based in Westchester County, New York to an international presence, providing instruction to young players around the world, having conducted camp and clinic events in Canada (Kingston, Ontario) and more recently, Brazil (Ibuina, Sao Paolo).\u00a0 He is also <\/span>actively involved with his hometown little league, Shrub Oak Athletic Club, while coaching his two sons at various levels in the club.<\/span>
