IN AN EFFORT TO PROMOTE THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF SAFETY AND ORGANIZATION, PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO READ BELOW FOR IMPORTANT CAMP INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR CHILD’S CAMP REGISTRATION.
*TIP! We encourage you to keep this information handy during your camp week(s). Over the years, we have learned from families that those who report reading the info below, also report the highest levels of satisfaction with our camp!
**If there is an overnight weather issue that may affect the following camp day, information will be posted on our Facebook page by 8:00 a.m.
YORKTOWN: Weeks of July 15 & July 22
Drop-off/Pickup begins: 8:50 a.m./12:50 p.m.
RYE: Weeks of August 5 & 12
Drop-off/Pickup begins: 8:50/11:50 a.m
Thank you in advance for your cooperation with these timelines.
*OF COURSE – LABEL EVERYTHING!
Shorts or pants? We like for campers to feel cool and relaxed, thus helping them listen, learn & perform their best! While baseball pants are not required, campers do need to wear athletic attire (i.e. athletic shorts vs. cargo or jean shorts).
Protective Cup: As with any baseball-related event, a protective cup is highly recommended.
Does my child need his own bat & helmet? While it is recommended for each player to have his/her own bat and helmet, we will provide extras as needed.
3. CARPOOL IS COOL (AND WALKING HOME FROM CAMP)! PLEASE JUST LET US KNOW
If someone other than your child’s legal parent/guardian will pick up your child from camp (or your child will walk home from camp), WE MUST RECEIVE WRITTEN NOTIFICATION (HARD COPY, NOT ELECTRONIC), FROM A LISTED PARENT/GUARDIAN, PRIOR TO RELEASING YOUR CHILD.
The brief written notification must include:
a. Child’s name and name of the individual(s) who will be picking up your child in place of the listed parent/guardian on file
b. Date(s) and time(s) the pickup will occur
c. Best phone number in the event we must contact you
d. Signature of the listed parent/guardian on file
*TIME SAVINGS TIP! Many provide us with a “blanket note”, one that lists, or “covers”, the dates of the entire camp week.
We kindly ask all parents to refrain from putting peanut butter or other items processed with peanuts or any type of tree nut in foods and drinks during our camp week – or notify the Camp Director, in writing, if you do. A quick, simple note with your child’s name, date & type of snack is suffice.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation regarding the above safety issues and helping us keep all our campers safe!
WEATHER SCENARIOS: THAT’S WHAT OUR TEXT/VOICE BLAST SYSTEM IS FOR!!!
“Rain Delay” – “Heads Up/Warning” – “See you Friday!”
1. “Rain Delay”: During the camp day, in the event of MODERATE/PASSING inclement weather, camp will engage in a “Rain Delay”. Campers and staff will retreat to field dugouts or similar structures (i.e. Gazebo, etc.) for shelter until the temporary rain pattern passes over.
2. “Heads Up/Warning”: In the event of forecasted significant and/or sustained inclement weather, a “Heads Up/Warning” text or call may be sent. A “Heads Up/Warning” is sent when there is a possibility that camp may end early due to significant or sustained inclement weather*.
*A “Heads Up/Warning” message is typically sent a minimum of 1 hour in advance, to notify parents that camp MAY end early that day. If the projected significant or sustained inclement weather continues, only then would you receive a follow-up call/text to pick up your child.
3. “See You Friday!”: In the event of inclement weather that occurs during the overnight or morning of camp, you will be contacted via our text blast system as to whether or not camp will remain on as scheduled or canceled no later than 8:00 a.m.
As with any parenting or caregiving situation, it is important to have backup plans in place.
In the event of sustained/significant inclement weather that results in an early dismissal, it is highly suggested to ensure alternative plans are in place AHEAD OF TIME, so that your child(ren) may be picked up from camp in a timely manner.
Thankfully, on average, an early dismissal happens just once a summer (average number of summer camp days: between 25-30).
Above all, we plan for your child to have both a safe & awesome summer camp experience while in our care!
